Nightmareish Oh Wells

Geez... It's 6 am and I just woke from a nightmare. What a good start to the day. Oh well. Got a lot of time before work I guess.

Ok, so I just watched the Twilight movie last night. Yeah, I think maybe my expectations were too high after reading the book. The book's like the freakin' Bible, but some things you just can't say on screen you know, and some things just can't be shortened down to fit a two-hour movie. A movie's just too different a medium from a book, you can't really compare.
I mean... I loved how the characters came out, but there's just not enough of them to bond with them through the film, really. Emmett is like a really good-humoured rugby player in my head, Alice is all sweet and enthused and Esme so incredibly loving, and though you get those vibes, you can't connect really, because their few screen minutes are just not enough. And I am so in love with Carlisle, but with the reason being his history and his sacrifices, that we don't get to see in the movie at all, it doesn't really work for me. They are all really beautiful though.
And also, Bella and Edward's relationship seems a bit rushed. Saying the words doesn't make me believe them when what gives the dance credibility and depth isn't there. Like the duality in all things that comes through the book, like the humour and bitterness, bliss and pain. That comes through the dialogues very much, which is my favourite part, like the one in the meadow. It's very very beautiful, but with the movie it's like taking a word or sentence here and there and putting it in the scenes, and for me who's read the book, it feels like it's out of context or as if there's nothing connecting the lines. Like they're answering a different question than the one asked or something. I may be the only one picking this up though, I dunno.
And it seems the relationship goes too fast, passion can't be faked... Right? I'm just not buying the "I-would-die-for-you" part.
The movie kind of sums up the book, I guess. So in the end, it's good entertainement, that's all. Read the book.

Geez, that was basically a review. Oh well.

Love, J.
